Microvascular endothelial cells play a central role in inflammation, tumor metastasis, wound healing, and tissue engineering. Microvascular endothelial cells line blood vessels and contribute to many biological processes such as hematosis, coagulation, and trafficking of lymphocytes. Endothelial cells are important for the extravasation of leukocytes from the circulation into sites of tissue inflammation. In prostate cancer, the interactions between prostate cancer cells and endothelial cells in microvessels play an important role in prostate tumor metastasis. Studies have shown that prostate microvascular endothelial cells (PrMEC) may be actively involved in prostate growth, due to the secretion of regulatory factors such as IL-6. HPrMEC from ScienCell Research Laboratories are isolated from human prostate tissue. HPrMEC are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >5 x 105 cells in 1 ml volume. HPrMEC are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibodies specific to vWF/Factor VIII and/or CD31 (PECAM1). HPrMEC are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HPrMEC are guaranteed to further expand for 10 population doublings under the conditions provided by ScienCell Research Laboratories. Recommended Medium It is recommended to use Endothelial Cell Medium (ECM, Cat. #1001) for culturing HPrMEC in vitro.
